sportACT Award Scheme (sportACT) aims to encourage students to set their sports participation plan, participate in physical activities regularly and constantly and to build up an active and healthy life style. Participating students will actively engage in physical activities over a consecutive eight-week period. If they attain the requirement of the sportACT, they will be granted the sportACT award.
Students should pick their appropriate sports according to their interests and capabilities. Then, set their targets, play the sports or get the training. Soon they will enjoy the fun and merits of exercising.
Students may apply for awards if they meet the following criteria in terms of amount of physical activities* within any 8 consecutive weeks:

* Physical activities include planned physical fitness training and activities, such as housework, stairs climbing, brisk walking during commuting, hiking and pet-walking.
^ Physical activities of moderate intensity should cause sweating, increased heart rate and depth of breathing.
# According to the latest recommendation by WHO, children and youth aged 5–17 should do at least an accumulated 60 minutes of moderate- to vigorous-intensity physical activity daily, which improves cardiorespiratory, muscular and bone health, and reduces risk of chronic non-communicable diseases. By “accumulated”, it means students may meet the goal by dividing the activities into multiple shorter sessions throughout the day (e.g. 2 sessions of 30 minutes), with the total time spent adding up to 60 minutes per day. |

The successful promotion of sports in schools would not have been possible without the support and assistance of school principals and teachers. Students are encouraged to develop a habit of sports participation to ensure a balanced development of their physical and psychological well beings, with a view to enhancing their stamina and learning performance.
To express our appreciation of the schools’ great effort in promoting sports development in campuses, an “Active School Award” will be presented under the sportACT Award Scheme (the Scheme). Any schools where 25% or more of the total student numbers achieve Bronze Awards or above under the Scheme within an academic year will be presented an “Active School Award”.
