School Music Workshops
 
Music Office presents the School Music Workshops through three themes, “Music New Horizon”, “Jazz Hub” and “I’m a Fine Music DJ”, in the form of themed on-campus workshops, off-campus talks and fine music DJ training. Face-to-face or online (by Zoom) mode will be offered in some of the activities to provide flexibility for schools.

Application Method
Interested schools may send the completed Application Form via email or fax to the Activities and Promotion Section of the Music Office on or before 15 October 2024. All workshops are free and will be conducted in Cantonese. Oversubscribed applications will be processed by ballot. Successful applicants will be approached to confirm the arrangements of the Workshop(s). Application received after the deadline will be put to a waiting list.

The speaker will introduce the history of musical theatre, share the favourite musical theatre hits including classics from local and overseas’ musicals and guide students how to appreciate musicals, an art form that integrates music, drama and dance.

You can make your own music! Get to know the basic elements of pop music and then you can create your own work by the application in a tablet!

By “revealing” the little secrets of the composers, the speaker will guide the students to understand the composers and appreciate their work in an interesting approach.

What is a vocal band? The speaker will introduce the history of a cappella, share some interesting a cappella works and groups from local and overseas, and show the students the techniques and some vocal percussions, inviting the students to join the fun of singing without instruments.

I’m a Fine Music DJ
Programme will be conducted in two phases

Phase 1 | Off-campus Talk Into the world of Fine Music DJ |
This year, “I’m a Fine Music DJ” will be presented anew, encouraging the students to leave their classrooms and deepen their understanding of radio station. Professional radio presenters from Radio 4 of the Radio Television Hong Kong (R4) will share the work as a classical music DJ and guide the students in appreciating various Chinese and western music as well as how to present the fine music they share with others. Apart from music appreciation and interactive activities, students will also experience how to be a Fine Music DJ in radio.

Students nominated by participating school will participate a training workshop, learn how to be student-hosts, record and share Chinese and western music with audience in live radio programme at Radio 4 under the guidance of the professional DJs. Conducted by Ms. Anna Fan, professional jazz percussionist, this engaging workshop starts with an introduction of the development of jazz music, followed by live demonstration and engaging activities which students are able to feel the rhythm and acquire the basic performance techniques of jazz music.
