* "Angels over the Rainbow ¡V Cathay 80th Anniversary Celebration"
Motion Picture and General Investment Ltd (MP & GI), later renamed Cathay, was one of the most significant film enterprises in Hong Kong during the 1950s and 60s, which has produced over 100 modern metropolitan movies and groomed numerous movie stars and filmmaking talents. "Angels over the Rainbow ¡V Cathay 80th Anniversary Celebration" will screen the Cathay studio¡¦s cinematic classics with four focuses, namely writer-director Doe Ching, renowned actress Grace Chang, director Tang Huang and Cantonese Productions of MP & GI. Also, free outdoor screenings will be held on March 18 at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza, with "Our Sister Hedy" (1957) to be shown at 7pm and "Wedding Bells for Hedy" (1959) at 9.15pm. Meanwhile, "Behind the Glamorous Scene - 80th Anniversary of Cathay" exhibition features 24 elite individuals of various positions in filmmaking as a tribute to those who made huge off-stage contributions to the film industry.
